Why Posting Photos On The Internet Should Be Carefully Done

    (from http://theblogger15.blogspot.com/ posted on 27 May 2009)

    Deleted.
Saw this article on my friend’s Facebook page.

It’s always fun to write about research that you can actually try out for yourself.

Try this: Take a photo and upload it to Facebook, then after a day or so, note what the URL to the picture is (the actual photo, not the page on which the photo resides), and then delete it. Come back a month later and see if the link works. Chances are: It will.

Facebook isn’t alone here. Researchers at Cambridge University (so you know this is legit, people!) have found that nearly half of the social networking sites don’t immediately delete pictures when a user requests they be removed. In general, photo-centric websites like Flickr were found to be better at quickly removing deleted photos upon request.

Why do “deleted” photos stick around so long? The problem relates to the way data is stored on large websites: While your personal computer only keeps one copy of a file, large-scale services like Facebook rely on what are called content delivery networks to manage data and distribution. It’s a complex system wherein data is copied to multiple intermediate devices, usually to speed up access to files when millions of people are trying to access the service simultaneously. (Yahoo! Tech is served by dozens of servers, for example.) But because changes aren’t reflected across the CDN immediately, ghost copies of files tend to linger for days or weeks.

In the case of Facebook, the company says data may hang around until the URL in question is reused, which is usually “after a short period of time.” Though obviously that time can vary considerably.

Of course, once a photo escapes from the walled garden of a social network like Facebook, the chances of deleting it permanently fall even further. Google’s caching system is remarkably efficient at archiving copies of web content, long after it’s removed from the web. Anyone who’s ever used Google Image Search can likely tell you a story about clicking on a thumbnail image, only to find that the image has been deleted from the website in question — yet the thumbnail remains on Google for months. And then there are services like the Wayback Machine, which copy entire websites for posterity, archiving data and pictures forever.

The lesson: Those drunken party photos you don’t want people to see? Simply don’t upload them to the web, ever, because trying to delete them after you sober up is a tough proposition.”

I don’t think using too many different facial products is helpful at all.. I suggest washing your face regularly with Eskinol Ice Pore Therapy…Safe even on sensitive skins.. Don’t just apply anything on it…

Facebook is at the centre of another privacy row after bringing in facial recognition technology to automatically identify users in pictures.

The world’s leading social network has begun rolling out new technology that automatically identifies and ‘tags’ people in photos uploaded to the website.

The feature has been expanded from a limited test run in the U.S. to be widened across all of the States and “most countries,” Facebook said on its official blog yesterday ― and, by default, it’s turned on.

Facebook’s “Tag Suggestions” feature is designed to speed up the process of labeling friends in photos posted on Facebook.

If a friend ‘tags’ you in one photo, the technology will automatically scan your face and then try and find matches among all their pictures.

It will then suggest that they “tag” these photos of you as well.

The sudden implementation of the feature, without warning, has sparked concerns among privacy campaigners.

Daniel Hamilton, director of privacy campaign group Big Brother Watch, said: ‘Facebook users will rightly be alarmed to hear that their private information will be used in this way. This is yet another nail in the coffin for online privacy.

“Websites like Facebook owe it to their users to respect their privacy, not to scan their photo albums with facial recognition software.”

And not all commentators are convinced that opting out will do you any good.

Sarah Jacobsson Purewal, of PC World magazine, said: “Opting out won’t keep Facebook from gathering data and recognizing your face – it’ll just keep people from tagging you automatically.”

The Most Incredible Mothers in the World

These are some of the most incredible and unusual mothers on the planet. Motherhood is one of the most incredible gifts of the nature. It gives birth to unconditional love and innocence. You have to experience it to believe it. These unusual women (whether they are too old, have small babies or too many babies) are unique in every way. They didn’t give up their chance to have happy and healthy babies, against all odds. See for yourselves.

    1. The World’s Smallest Mom

Cristianne Ray, from Seattle, is the world’s smallest mother. She is 2 ft 9 inches tall and she gave birth to a happy baby girl named Kyrsten. She weighed 4 lbs 8 oz and was 14 inches long after she was born; what is around half of her mother’s height. When she saw her daughter for the first time, she said: “She was tiny, but at the same time she was huge compared to me.” She tries to lead a happy and healthy life; she goes bowling trying to keep fit and takes care of her newborn baby. Her fiancée Jeremy Bowden is 6 ft 4 inches tall and he takes care of the fragile baby and her mother.

    2. Mother of the World’s Tiniest baby

The world’s tinniest baby was born just 25 weeks and six days into her mother’s pregnancy. She weighed less than a can of beer. On September 19 2004, Mahajabeen Sheikh gave birth to Rumaisa Rahman, her tinny adorable daughter. On her first birthday Rumaisa Rahman was doing just fine tipping the scales at 2 pounds 10 ounces since she was just 8.6 oz and was only 10 inches tall.

    3. The Mom with Most Kids (69 kids)

Imagine living in a family of 71, your mom either must really like giving birth or the gift of life if you prefer or just hates being lonely. Valentina Vassilyeva, set the record for most children birthed by a single woman. This Russian woman gave birth to total of 69 children. However, few other details are known of her life, such as her date of birth or death. She gave birth to 16 pairs of twins, 7 sets of triplets and 4 sets of quadruplets between 1725 and 1765, in a total of 27 births. 67 of the 69 children born survived infancy. That’s quite a score.

    4. Mom with the Longest Interval Between Kids

Elizabeth Ann Buttle gave birth to two kids, but what is special is the interval between their births. Belinda Buttle was born on May 19, 1956 when Elizabeth Ann Buttle was 19. Joseph Buttle was born on November 20, 1997 when Elizabeth Ann Buttle was 60, an interval of 41 years 185 days. Joseph’ sister was old enough to be his own grandmother.

    5. Mother of Most Surviving Children From a Single Birth (8 babies)

Nadya Denise Doud-Suleman Gutierrez aka Octomom gave birth to 8 children from a single birth. She gave birth to octuplets in January 2009, drawing the media attention.

    6. World’s First Male Mother

Thomas Beatie was born as a woman but after a sex change operation he/she decided to have a babie. The 34-year-old’s wife, Nancy, was unable to conceive because of a prior hysterectomy. Therefore Beatie decided to have a baby himself, through artificial insemination using donor sperm and Beatie’s own egg. It doesn’t seem to be a healthy solution in any respect.

this is interesting. however (and pls. don’t hate me for saying this), i kinda don’t like the idea of giving them the label as “most incredible mothers”. i don’t know if it’s just me but it’s kind of insulting to the other mothers out there who’ve worked so hard in raising their kids. motherhood (or parenting for that matter) is the most difficult job in the world. i think EVERY mother is incredible, not one of higher degree whatsoever.

      • allbouteverything 12:29 am on June 15, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Hi Ver thank you for your reply. just wanna say that I don’t hate you. you are entitled to your own opinion. hehe :) I believe that this article is not meant to insult moms cause that it is already a given that “all our moms are very incredible”. I myself have a very amazing mom. I just wanna make it clear that these moms featured above just somehow did something incredible when they should have just called it quits. :) ~ The first featured mom was too small the doctors said she could die from having the baby, but she said she would have it even if it meant dying. So do with the rest. Having their babies was I guess a difficult choice but still went on with it anyway. So this is not to give any degree or whatsoever to any particular mom/moms in the world. Just an acknowledgment to (as what was said in the introduction,) some of the most incredible and unusual mothers on the planet.

Gasp… the tiniest baby weighed less than a can of beer?! Yeah her mom deserves a lot of credit for having helped her baby survive.

@caustic: Right! She was very tiny ( less than half the size of her twin). Their mom did a great job in delivering them fine though they were delivered 14 weeks early. :)

    MISINFORMED

I couldn’t help laughing when I read about a story how misinformation could lead into disaster. Ha-Ha!  According to the story, while her husband was President, Nancy Reagan visited Kuala Lumpur, and was invited to have tea with the Queen of Malaysia. Mrs. Reagan’s entourage was told she should not wear clothing which was yellow or blue because those were the royal colors, and not to wear white because it was a funeral color. Somehow misinformed, the First Lady arrived for tea wearing a white dress, with blue flowers, blue shoes and a blue straw hat. :)
